Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Approach independent reading from a few different angles and examine common challenges from both a student and teacher perspective and leave with concrete ideas for how to address them. Moves for creating more student ownership are shared as well as conferring tips for teachers wanting to make the most of individualized instruction. The session is grounded in personalized and culturally responsive practices that honor the identities of every student. Research, videos, lesson ideas, and time for practice are included.

Participants explore:
  • why making time for independent reading matters
  • how to support reader independence in the classroom and at home
  • key moves teachers can use in reading conferences
  • bringing a joyful and equity-minded lens to independent reading instruction

*Separate Registration Required for Pre-Conference Workshop
