Phonics is an essential instructional component for children learning to read an alphabetic system. Its purpose is for reading and writing. While there is widespread agreement on the essential competencies, there are various points of view as to how to teach for them.

Join us for a conversation on the 12 compelling principles from the research and how they form the foundation for in text and out of text teaching in a child centered classroom. Together, we will discuss the importance of recognizing the complexity of literacy learning and the strengths and needs of children, as well as explore these research principles – the foundation of Fountas and Pinnell Phonics //Word Study Systems K-2.
